The registration fee to compete in the challenge is R1500.00 per team. Each school/organisation must use radio control equipment which includes four compulsory items so that every team has a fair start. If you are a new team entering the challenge for the first time you can choose to enter as a Rookie team in Class 2 by purchasing a “Starter Kit” from Sangari South Africa(please see “starter kit” for further information). The maximum budget for each team to spend over and above the registration fee and radio control equipment is R3000.00

Teams are encouraged to make as much as possible themselves. If this is not practical, they are encouraged to gain parts through sponsorship or recycling.

There are many learning opportunities which Land Rover 4×4 in Schools can offer your young people. Here are just some:
• learn about analysing a client design brief, applying scientific principles and developing and communicating a design solution
• learn to select suitable material, parts and components for a product and use processes, tools and equipment required to manufacture an engineered product
• investigate the impact of ICT in engineering
• gain experience of teamwork
• take responsibility for learning, using a plan and support from others to help meet targets
• gain experience, knowledge and skills required in engineering

• Research the project
• Design a vehicle
• Manufacture the vehicle
• Test and evaluate the vehicle
• Go head-to-head at competition stage
• Hopefully progress onto the National Final
• Possibly become the RSA National Champions

Regional Finals will be held in Gauteng at Sci-bono Science Center

Regional Finals will take place in February and March 2017.

The overall winners will gain National recognition as a successful engineering team and will be chosen to represent South Africa in the World Finals 2017.
